WaseemAhmad
Staff software engineer with 14 years shipping software at Google, Meta, and Nextdoor. These days it's mostly AI-driven development: building tools that ship production code.
About
I've lived in a lot of places, nine cities and counting. Each one shaped how I think about building things.
Miami, Houston, Boston, London, Menlo Park, San Francisco, New York, Austin, and now Seattle. I studied Computer Science at Rice University, lived at Brown College, and spent a semester abroad at UCL in London. My career started with research on collision avoidance for unmanned aerial vehicles at Auburn University, followed by internships at Google in Boston and Meta in Menlo Park (where an intern project later became a US patent).
I joined Meta full-time and spent seven years growing from new grad to Staff Engineer. I shipped features on Facebook Search and News Feed in New York, helped lead a framework migration across 50+ engineers, spoke at Android @Scale, conducted 175+ technical interviews, and eventually built the Calling experience for Meta's AR/VR hardware in Seattle.
Now I'm at Nextdoor as a Staff Software Engineer on Feed UX, focused on AI-driven development. I build Claude Code commands and tooling adopted across the engineering org, and drive cross-platform product delivery as DRI. Most of what I ship these days goes through an AI-driven workflow.
On nights and weekends, I build voice AI agents that make real phone calls, integrate with Google Workspace, and run on their own. It's the corner of tech I find most interesting right now.
Outside of work, I'm a private pilot flying a Cirrus SR22, exploring new destinations and taking friends on scenic flights over Seattle.
